Today was a tranquil day. In the morning, our crew began preparations for departure to Newport. During these preparations, I collected plankton samples. Fun fact: plankton produce half of the oxygen we breathe. As we set out on this journey, it’s crucial to recognize the pivotal role of science in guiding us toward a sustainable future. Embracing diversity is essential, as it fosters innovative and effective solutions to care for our planet. In the afternoon, we had the honor of being bid farewell by the Gabrielino tribe during a meaningful indigenous exchange. We deeply appreciate the hospitality and generosity of the communities and eagerly anticipate our upcoming experiences in Newport.
