Bio

Jordanʻs first experience sailing on a waʻa kaulua was in the summer of 2014 on the BYU-Hawaiʻi voyaging canoe Iosepa. He sees in Hōkūleʻa and in his role as a crew member “a great opportunity to learn and maintain modern day voyaging” and, he says, through voyages like Moananuiākea, he hopes to see “the younger generation stepping up to fill in the necessary roles in voyaging.”

Jordan is a cook and yet found the time to spend many hours working on Hikianalia during dry dock. While he is honored to sail on Hōkūleʻa on the Moananuiākea Voyage, he also looks forward to some day sailing on her sister canoe, and “Seeing through all the work I started on Hikianalia’s major dry dock.”

For Jordan, he says “It feels natural to be out at sea.” So much so that when heʻs on land he says he misses “Everything waʻa.”
