Hōkūleʻa will depart from the Marine Education Training Center at Sand Island Friday morning at approximately 8:00am, weather permitting, to begin her journey toward a milestone celebration marking her 50th birthday.

The canoe will first travel to Mōkapu, where she will dock overnight before departing at approximately 6:30am on Saturday. At 9:00am, the Hōkūleʻa 50th Birthday Commemoration Program will begin at the Kualoa Regional Park Ahu site. The event can be viewed via livestream here.

Following the commemoration, from 11am to 4pm, the celebration will continue with the 16th Annual Kualoa/Hakipuʻu Waʻa Festival.

Hōkūleʻa will remain moored in Kāneʻohe Bay until approximately 2:30pm, when she will depart for the Hawaiʻi Convention Center. On Sunday morning at approximately 8:30am when the tides are low, she will journey under the Ala Moana Blvd./Ala Wai Bridge and down the Ala Wai Canal, where she will be docked below the grand staircase of the Hawaiʻi Convention Center along the Ala Wai Promenade.

Community members will have the opportunity to visit Hōkūleʻa on Monday, March 10th, with canoe tours open from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
