Welcoming Ceremony

Date: Saturday, June 10, 2023

Location: Auke Recreation Picnic Area in front of the Raven Shelter

Time: 2:30 – 7:00pm

Parking is located at UAS and buses will shuttle people to and from Auke Recreation Picnic Area. The road to Auke Rec will be closed to traffic.

2:30 pm –   Hōkūleʻa approaches Auke Bay

3 pm –   Hōkūleʻa arrives at Auke Bay. Alaska hosts conduct tribal welcome ceremony and Hawaiʻi delegation offers ceremonial greeting, voyaging dances, and a special tribute to the Áak’w Kwáan.
